Eye Care for Wetherill Park Families and Seniors

Wetherill Park is an established suburb of Fairfield City, and we see the whole family here. At the 2021 Census, about one in five Wetherill Park residents was aged 65 or over, and nearly one in five was a child aged 14 or under. We book longer appointments for older patients with more complex eye health histories, and pace children's appointments so they feel at ease.

Wetherill Park is also one of Sydney's most linguistically diverse suburbs, with Arabic, Assyrian, Chaldean, Spanish and Vietnamese widely spoken at home. You're welcome to bring a family member into the consulting room. Let us know when you book if you'd like extra time so everything can be explained clearly.

Contact Lens Fitting

A dedicated fitting to find lenses that suit your eyes, vision and lifestyle.

Macular Degeneration Assessment

Detailed macular checks, plus guidance on monitoring your vision at home.

Ortho-K Overnight Lenses

Overnight lenses that gently reshape the cornea for clearer daytime vision in suitable patients.

Children's Eye Health

Relaxed, unhurried eye tests for children, with a first check recommended before preschool.

How Often Should You Have an Eye Test?

According to healthdirect, if your optometrist bulk bills, Medicare covers one comprehensive eye test every three years if you're under 65, and one every year from 65. Your optometrist may recommend seeing you sooner if you have symptoms, a family history of eye disease, or a condition such as diabetes.

Raising Children Network recommends a child's first eye test before preschool, at 3½ to 5 years. If you're over 50, Macular Disease Foundation Australia recommends checking your vision weekly at home with an Amsler grid, alongside regular eye examinations.
